What kind of pet do you have? For most people, a dog or cat is going to be the obvious answer and for those who happen to walk on the wild side, they may have something, such as a chicken or a rabbit. There is another pet that is very popular in certain parts of the world, however, and that is a guinea pig. Perhaps you had one when you were a child or maybe you have one now. If you have ever had a guinea pig in your life, you realize that they make wonderful pets.
It takes a little while for the bonding to take place between humans and guinea pigs. They tend to be a little wary of humans at first but once they learn to trust, then they tend to respond well to having humans around. Guinea pigs are nice animals to help children understand the responsibilities of taking care of a pet as well.
Some people are able to train their guinea pigs to a limited extent and it can be part of the pet bonding process as well. Guinea pigs tend to be social and if they have at least one other guinea pig in their pen, they will be happiest.
