Firefighter Rescues Pup But Just Can’t Leave Him Behind So He Saves His Life Again

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of a hero? Some of us may envision a man or woman flying around the city with a cape. Others may think of movies that they have seen in the past. In reality, there are heroes all around us and we often come in contact with them on a day-to-day basis. They work in our communities and they are known as first responders.

The first responder in this story is a firefighter and he discovered a pitbull who was tied up outside in the rain. The puppy was in bad shape and there was nobody around to take care of her or to make sure she was safe. They simply left her outside in the harsh elements and she had become sick. Mike Thawley is the hero in this story. He is a firefighter in Sacramento for Fire Station 14. He rescued the dog, cleaned her up and took her in for some medical attention.

When the shelter began to treat her mange, they had to wrap her in warm clothing to protect her skin. The pup was named “Chunky” and it seemed as if he knew what had happened on that day. He had been rescued from a life of abuse and neglect but the shelter workers noticed that Chunky was still a bit depressed.

The reunion that occurred when Mike came back to visit Chunky was beyond words. Suddenly, this little puppy became alive and showed some respect and love to the man who saved her life. Mike couldn’t resist and he is talking to his family about becoming a foster parent for Chunky. It won’t be long before he takes this pup to his home and their relationship can continue to grow.
