Singer Records Song From His Grandma’s 30-Year-Old Lyrics And It Brings Her To Tears

As we move through life, we may find that we are putting what is most important in life on the back burner. Sometimes, things just have to get shuffled around and if we are busy, something may get put to the side and it could even end up staying there. As the years pass, those things tend to fade into the background and we may not think about many of the things that we left behind in our youth. From time to time, however, are brought back to those memories that it can be very touching.

This grandmother from Mountain Home, Arkansas, had many of those times in her life. She had a real creative streak and 30 years earlier, she had written a song but she never ended up doing anything with it. Her story was shared by her son, Robert Smith, as well as her grandson, Travis Ryan Smith. They visited her one Christmas day and they brought along something from her past that not only changed her life, it is changing the lives of the entire family.

Apparently, Travis had been recording some music. He likes to write his own songs and he has a mellow baritone voice that goes right in line with his country-western preference. It’s obvious that he is talented, so his father approached him with an idea.

Robert said:

“My mom wrote this song: ‘Fishing in the Sky’ about 30 years ago and recorded it on a cassette tape. Last year when Travis and I were up here for Christmas, we listened to it. Travis has been recording some music lately; and about three weeks ago, I pitched the idea to Travis to get the lyrics and look into recording it. Today, I had the pleasure of sharing the finished product with my mom. Her reaction is priceless.”

It only took a few notes for grandma to recognize the song. She had a look of sheer joy and surprise on her face.

It wasn’t long before she was crying.

It doesn’t matter if you are a country music fan or not, you have to admit that this is a fantastic song. Travis really adds to it because his voice is quite nice.

Before long, Robert shared the video on the Internet and people agreed that he should get a deal to record it professionally right away.

Travis accepted the praise and wrote on his Facebook page:

“My grandmother wrote a Hit and all she needed was someone too put some vocals to it! I’m so glad this song helps people all around.”

It really is never too late to learn about your talents. This is something that not only inspired his grandmother, it also inspired people around the world.
