We all live lives the can be somewhat complicated but for one young mother in England, life was about to take a turn that would change everything from that point forward. Becki-Jo already was a mother to an adorable little girl named Indiana. She began feeling nauseous and somewhat uncomfortable and it was then that she realized something may not quite be as it should.
Becki-Jo had a sneaky suspicion that she was pregnant because she had already gone through pregnancy and had experienced similar symptoms. She knew that her body would change and that the birth of a new child would also change her life. What she didn’t know, however, is that her body was going to be going through more than what she thought possible. She was pregnant with triplets.
She gave an interview in which she talked about the symptoms she had when she was expecting:
“I had been being very sick and had a really bad headache so I booked an early scan and that was when I found out I was expecting triplets. It was the biggest shock of my life!
We haven’t got any triplets in the family so it came completely out of the blue.”
Although there isn’t a family history of triplets, it certainly wasn’t out of the question. The problem was, she didn’t have a ‘guide’ built into the family can so she was going to have to figure this one out on her own.
When Becki-Jo was only 31 weeks pregnant, she had to be rushed to the hospital because it was time to give birth. It was then that her three little bundles of joy, Rocco, Roman, and Rohan arrived but things weren’t as good as they could be. The boys had some health concerns that she discussed:
“When they were born Rocco was 3lbs 5, Roman was 3lbs 6 and Rohan was 3lbs 10.”
That is when the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) took over. The babies were there for three weeks before they could go back home.
After all of the tubes, cords and wires were removed, the mother finally got a close look at their faces. That is when she noticed that something was unusual, they looked identical to each other.
It is very rare to give birth to identical triplets. In fact, some sources say that it may be a one in 200 million shot! This mother had her doubts that they were actually identical triplets.
After arriving home and settling in, swabs of DNA were taken from all three boys and sent off to a laboratory. It wasn’t long before the results were back and they were positive! Becki-Jo was a mother to identical triplets.
When the boys started getting older, they continued to look more and more alike. It is now practically impossible for them to go out in public without somebody inquiring about the similarities.
“I was always convinced they weren’t because that’s what I had been told during my pregnancy. I got in touch with a company who sent me some swabs and within three days of me sending them back they told me the boys were identical…
We don’t get anywhere fast because people are always stopping us when we’re out and asking if they are identical.”
It may be difficult for other people to keep these three boys in order but this mother has a system.
“I don’t get them mixed up – it’s only when they’re asleep that they look the same to me. They all have completely different personalities.”
She explained things further:
“Rohan is the loud one, he’s always shouting. Rocco is normally quite laid-back, but he can be feisty too, while Roman is usually complaining that he doesn’t want to share.
They’re always crawling about after the same toy, trying to get to it before their brothers do.
Indiana loves them, she’s not one bit jealous – I do feel a bit sorry for her when I think what it’s going to be like growing up with three little brothers though!”
It is nice to hear that Indiana gets along with her brothers and even helps mom to keep track of them.
Things might be rather hectic around this household and it may be difficult for some people to tell the boys apart but they have a special bond and wouldn’t trade things for the world.
