Woman Stuck On Plane With Insulting Man Beside Her When She Hears A Voice Say ‘We Switching Seats Now’

Most travelers would agree that flying is the most convenient way to get from here to there. You step on a plane in one location and within hours, you’re stepping off hundreds or thousands of miles away. There is one problem with flying, however, that is the fact that we are stuck like sardines next to people who are complete strangers. Sometimes, we may strike up a friendly conversation with those other passengers and sometimes, things are better left unsaid.

When Savannah Phillips was traveling for three weeks, she had no idea that she would run into someone who would shake her confidence so badly. She was trapped next to a man on a plane thousands of feet in the air, so there was no escaping the hatefulness that he was sending in her direction. After getting off the plane, 32-year-old savanna shared her story on Facebook. She wasn’t looking for sympathy, she just wanted to point out that there was something good that came out of such a bad situation.

Savannah was on a flight to Chicago but it had already changed to an earlier flight because of storms. She usually selects her seat in advance but she had to sit in a row where she would sit next to somebody.

“I’m not the biggest person on the airplane, but I’m not the smallest. My worst nightmare is someone being uncomfortable because they have to sit next to me.”

Savannah’s seat was assigned at the gate and she was nervous what she would find when she boarded the plane. As it turns out, her seat was next to an older man who said that he was a comedian.

The man appeared to be in his 60s and was wearing bright yellow sunglasses. He seemed harmless, even jumping up to allow her to pass through and to buckle her seatbelt.

The flight attack was going through the safety speech when man beside her pulled out his cell phone. It was an oversized phone with a bright screen, so she easily saw what he was writing. As it turns out, he was insulting her to somebody via text message.

“He proceeded to text someone that he was sitting next to ‘a smelly fatty.'”

Savannah was crushed over what she had read. She turned away immediately but she couldn’t get what he had written out of her mind. Like many people, she deals with negative thoughts so this only compounded the problem.

“Before I knew it, I could feel hot, salty tears coming down my face. I sat and cried silently, hoping this guy didn’t try to make small talk, because I didn’t trust how I would react and I didn’t want to get kicked off the plane. I was so hurt. The pilot came overhead and said there would be a 30 minute delay before he could take off- great. Just more time I would have to sit next to this creep.”

At this point, she couldn’t keep herself from crying so she pushed herself into the wall of the plane, hoping that it wouldn’t be noticed. That is when somebody from behind tapped him on the shoulder and informed him that the he would be switching seats right away.

When the ‘comedian’ asked him why he wanted to switch, he told him, along with some colorful language: “You are texting about her and I’m not putting up with that.”

Before he had an opportunity to say anything else, the stranger shoved his way into the aisle and sits down next to Savannah. It was then that he noticed she was crying and he told her he had read the text message.

“He encouraged me not to let that guy get to me and that everything was going to be fine. We talked about Ross and the kids, his two year old son, our jobs, amongst other things. He said he just happened to see that guy’s text messages and he started shaking he was so mad and knew he had to do something. He stopped the flight attendant and told her what he was about to do.”

Savannah was grateful and let him know how much it meant to her. The flight attendant was also thankful, and she claimed that he was “her hero.”

All Savannah could think about at that moment, however, was the fact that he was her hero as well. She related an experience she had in church.

“And God saw me today. I told him that he was a blessing sent to me and how thankful I was that he was there.”

After she told the story on Facebook, she put out a plea for help to find this man. As it turns out, his name is Chase and he works for Whiskey Row in Nashville.” She wanted everyone to know what this kind man did and that there are “more good people in the world than bad.”

You’re never going to believe it, but she found him! You can watch his response when he saw what had happened and learn why he felt compelled to speak up in this video:
