Boyfriend Saves Engagement Ring from House Fire and Then Immediately Proposes

You never quite know what the day is going to hold for you but it is important to ensure that you are making the most out of every day. I’m sure that Sean Matthews understands this all too well.

Sean had been dating his girlfriend, Kellie Stanley in North Carolina for more than seven years. They were living together and had moved into a new home but on the one-year anniversary, something happened that changed her life forever.

Matthews was getting ready to propose and he had already purchased the ring. On September 4, 2021, the home that they were living in caught on fire while they were out eating dinner. Stanley was alerted by the security system at the home that there was a fire.

It seems as if his neighbor was at the door trying to alert them to the fact that the house was burning. He was yelling and the alert came through at that time. Stanley told his neighbor how to unlock the garage door so that Memphis, their elderly dog could be let out.

Fortunately, Memphis was able to be saved from the home but the home itself suffered a lot of damage. The couple was able to go in after the fire was put out and look for any belongings that were important to them.

Matthews didn’t hesitate, he went to the place where the engagement ring was located and was able to find it. That is when he made an important decision.

Since they had been through such a difficult time, he decided that he wasn’t going to wait to propose to her. He got down on one knee in front of the house that had burned down and asked her for her hand in marriage. She said yes.

You might think that it is strange to ask someone to marry you immediately after your house is destroyed but for this couple, it was an important moment. Matthews was able to propose to her and it was caught on video, so it is a moment that they will be able to relive for the rest of their life.

Matthews even said that this event put their lives in perspective, especially because they were leaving the home with nothing but the clothing on their back in their dog. They had their neighbor to thank, and now they are looking forward to a lifetime together with each other.
