Daniel Criag Doesn’t Believe James Bond Should Be Played By Woman or Non-White Actor

Daniel Craig has become a household name over the years as one of the few lucky actors to portray Agent 007 on the big screen. Since the 1960s, those playing the role of James Bond have gone on to achieve great success and fame. Prior to Craig, James Bond was played by the debonair Pierce Brosnan, who held the role for several films.

Sadly, the time has come for Craig to pass the touch of Agent 007 on to a new actor, and over the years, there’s been a lot of speculation concerning who the new James Bond will be.

Many have called for the role to be given to a minority actor, changing the character’s race or even gender. Comic book movie fans have become used to such changes and, for the most part, have come to embrace the different versions of certain characters like Marvel’s Nick Fury, a white comic book character portrayed on film by Samuel L. Jackson, a Black American actor.

However, not every switch as been success, ful, for example the classic 1989 blockbuster movie “Ghostbusters,” featured all-male lead roles featuring legends like Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, and Harold Ramis. However, the Ghostbusters 2016 remake featured an all-female cast playing the same roles, and it was an absolute disaster. Of course, the gender of the stars wasn’t what sunk the film, but rather the script, special effects, and acting. However, there were many who decried the changes and felt justified in their criticism after the film did so poorly.

This brings us to the present day, as many now debate the possibility of the next Agent 007 being a woman. In fact, many feel it’s possible the role may be given to a Black British actress named Lashana Lynch, who fans know from the DC TV series “Black Lightening.”

As for Craig’s thoughts on the matter, he’s openly expressed his objection to the role being given to a woman. Saying when asked about the possibility:

“The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of color.”

He went on to say: “Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”

However, others have different opinions on the subject, such as producer Barbara Broccoli. She noted that they were not currently considering recasting James Bond as a woman, but they should be creating new characters for women.

She added that the James Bond universe should have strong female characters. However, she differed from Craig, saying that an actor of any race could play Bond.
