French Police Brutally Beat A Black Man And Now They Are In Custody

It seems as if the police have been in the news an awful lot lately. We realize that there are some police officers who are out there doing their job, protecting us, and doing what they can to see that justice is delivered to the right people, at the right time. Of course, we also realize that any police officer is going to make mistakes and there has to be some leeway to allow for that fact. On the other hand, there are times when certain police officers do things that are so far out of line, it shakes us to the core.

On Thursday, a video was posted online of four French police officers beating a black man so brutally that they have been suspended and are now in custody. As you can imagine, this type of public display of violence can really push people to the limit, and an outcry has arisen across France. Interestingly, it also comes on the heels of some rather controversial legal action that the government is trying to take to restrict how police are filmed. Many people are opposing the bill, saying that it would shield police brutality.

Police officers saw a 41-year-old music producer, Michel Zecler, walking without a facemask. Wearing a facemask is required in the area due to the pandemic and when police officers saw him without his mask on, they went after him. He attempted to walk into his music studio and police burst in and started beating him with their fists and a billy club.

Eventually, some other people that lived in the building came to the aid of Zecler but police still went out and threw a teargas container through a window to force him to leave. What the police didn’t realize is that a surveillance camera was filming the entire thing. That video was then posted online, disproving what the police officers said that he resisted arrest and tried to take their weapons. Zecler had already spent two days in jail.

It will be interesting to see where this one goes.
