When we take a nice vacation, we expect to have a relaxing time. The trip is there to recharge our batteries and allow us to come back to our day to day lives again with a renewed sense of purpose. The last thing that any of us would expect when we were on vacation is for it to turn disastrous. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened for this young couple and it struck out of the blue.
Juliet Moore and Isaiah Cormier were off for the weekend so they decided to pack the tent and go camping. They chose the Ruby Gulch area of Colorado and after they had the site set up, it seemed so nice and relaxing. They had gone out for a hike and the weather started to turn a little wet so they went back to the tent. They didn’t know what was coming so they put away all of their gear inside of the tent so it didn’t get wet.
Juliet had ducked into the tent to take shelter when a bright flash occurred outside. She called out to her boyfriend right away and was alarmed when he didn’t respond. When Juliet looked outside, she saw her husband face down on the ground and she felt a wave of panic come over her.
Without thinking, Juliet ran outside and turned her boyfriend over. He was not breathing and she couldn’t detect a heartbeat, but she knew what to do. Just recently, she had learned CPR so she started doing chest compressions right away.
It only took a few moments of CPR before Isaiah gasped but he stopped breathing again. Juliet continued to give chest compressions and held out hope that he would wake up. In her mind, she was thinking that he was too young to die and they still had their lives ahead of them.
When Isaiah woke up again, Juliet reached for her cell phone. She had service so she dialed 911. A nearby camper also came over with his son and they put Isaiah into the car and rushed him to the hospital. There aren’t many of us that could say that our girlfriend literally saved our life but if it weren’t for her quick actions, the story would have ended differently.
