Great Grandma Raises 6 Kids So Strangers Come In To Ease Her Pain

Many parents are raising their grandchildren these days. It is a matter of love and in many cases, a matter of necessity. It can also be difficult for some grandparents.

This is especially the case for a 72-year-old widow named Ella Setzler. She was a great grandmother and was taking care of all six of her great grandchildren. She admitted that they were ‘her heart’ and that they mean a lot to her.

We often don’t know what is going on in somebody’s life unless we have to walk in their shoes. Sometimes, however, there are good friends and family members that are looking out for our greater good.

That was the case with Ella, as she was doing her best to watch her six great-grandchildren and raise them in the best way she possibly could. Even though it was an overwhelming problem, it was something she knew she had to do.

Ella is a military widow and she didn’t make enough money on her own to cover all of their expenses. Not only did she have to care for her monthly bills, she also had a $900 water leak that needed fixing at her home. Quite simply, she could not make ends meet.

One of her good friends named Alice decided it was time to help. Even though she wasn’t able to fix everything, she realized that Ella needed a helping hand. That is when she reached out to a local news station and their ‘surprise squad’ came to the rescue.

That group reaches out to community members for donations. When people found out what was going on, it was a fire fall of assistance.

They got together to fix all of the problems with her home for free but that wasn’t all that she received. She also got some additional financial assistance and some others were dedicated to helping her with a little bit of pampering.

Just then, a limousine pulled up so that she could have a spa day. They also redecorated her home for Christmas and gave it a good cleaning.

A $500 gift was given in the form of gift cards so that each child would have something. To make matters even better, a local car company decided they would pay her rent for a full year.

When Ella realized everything that was given to her, she couldn’t help but break down and cry. She had a difficult, although what she expresses as being a good life and now she is able to handle her difficult situation a little better.
