Man Saves His Pet Dog From The Jaws Of An Alligator Bare Handed

I think that most people would readily admit that they will go to any lengths to save their dog. If you fall into that category, you might even look forward to the opportunity to prove it. In the meantime, we do what we can to make them comfortable and happy, providing them with a warm place to sleep and good food to eat. If they get sick, we also make sure that they have plenty of medical attention and TLC. Every once in a while, however, the opportunity comes up to prove just how far we will go to save our dog and I think one man in Florida has us all beat.

Surveillance cameras recently captured a man by the name of Richard Wilbanks who was willing to risk it all for his beloved dog. The cameras recorded him dragging an alligator out of the pond and prying the jaws of the gator open to save his beloved pet dog. It is one of those moments that is just beyond belief, but we have the video so you can’t deny that it happened. According to Wilbanks, they were walking around the pond and the alligator moved faster than he ever thought was possible. Before he knew it, the gator had his dog in his grasp.

A partnership between the Florida Wildlife Federation and the fSTOP Foundation is responsible for the cameras that are set up in the area. You can see him jump into action, something that he attributes to his adrenaline kicking in. He claims that he didn’t think much about it when he jumped into the water, pulled the reptile out, and pryed its jaws open with his bare hands.

When all was said and done, the dog was safe with a little puncture wound and his hands are chewed up a little. There is a lot that could be said on the subject, but it’s just a reminder of how dangerous wildlife can be and how far a person will go to save their dog.
