Some people just seem to be able to get pregnant without any problem but unfortunately, that isn’t the case for every couple. Some people need to try for years before it happens and in some cases, they may need to take additional measures. When Annie Johnson and her husband, Joby were having a difficulty, they knew they needed help. That is when they got her older sister, Chrissy involved. She made them an offer that they couldn’t refuse.
As it turns out, it was an offer that was quite a surprise but it wasn’t the only surprise that they had coming their way. The next surprise was going to shock everyone, including the entire family and it will have an impact on them in a very special way for the rest of their lives.
Chrissy seemed to be quite capable of carrying children successfully. She already had two young children and no major issues during birth. She was heartbroken over watching her little sister struggling to conceive a child so she decided to do something about it. She said:
“It was heartbreaking. When they started having problems getting pregnant it was devastating to watch.”
That is when she had a rather unconventional idea. She told Annie about the idea, that she would be a surrogate if they wanted to try again.
At first they were shocked over the suggestion but eventually, they agreed to it and started the process. Two embryos were implanted in Chrissy and since Annie was on the same cycle, they also implanted two embryos in her. It was their way of having one, final opportunity.
It wasn’t long before both sisters started having the symptoms of pregnancy and they couldn’t believe what was happening. Annie said that the doctors found something they weren’t expecting when they did an ultrasound:
“They found one in me and then they moved over and saw another little sac with another flickering heartbeat, and we knew that we still had Chrissy left to go.”
As it turns out, Chrissy was also pregnant with twins. Although they had attempted to get pregnant unsuccessfully for five years, the Johnsons were now going to be having four children. To make things even more unusual, both girls went into labor on the same day.
Since they had C-sections, Chrissy decided that she would give birth so her sister could watch the twins being born. Their names are Charlie and Tommy. Within moments, and knew he was also welcoming her twin girls, Gracie and Haddie to the world.
Annie talked about how exciting it was to see their children born in that way:
“Trying to get at least one baby, we are just so excited to take all four of them home and they’re all healthy.”
It may be quite busy for the family raising quadruplets but they wouldn’t change things for the world. You can see more of their birth in this video:
