* Warning: This Story Contains Graphic Descriptions of Infant Abuse

The birth of a child is the most important thing that could happen in the life of a parent. From the moment that they find out that they are going to have a child, their life is changed forever and it continues to change, especially once the baby is born. If you were to ask any parent about their skills as a parent, they would probably tell you that they made some mistakes along the way. Unfortunately, the mother and father in this story made more than a mistake, they committed an atrocity that ended up costing their baby girl her life.

When Christopher Michael McNabb and Cortney Marie Bell had a little girl of their own, it wasn’t long before they were being hauled off to prison for murder. Unfortunately, the two of those individuals got high on meth and ended up killing their daughter. The little girl was only 15 days old when she was found in the woods in Georgia dead. It seems as if the incident occurred on October 7, 2017 and then the little girl was reported missing the next day. They found the body in a drawstring bag eight days after and she was located not far from their trailer home.

The baby suffered from blunt force trauma to her head, although there wasn’t anything that pointed to the parents as being guilty of such a horrible crime. One thing that was obvious was that the parents didn’t care for the child as they should. Multiple skull fractures existed on the baby when she was found and she had been struck so hard that her teeth were forced through her gums. According to Layla Zon, the Newton County district attorney, she was doomed from the moment she left from the hospital.

The lawyer for the couple said that he was targeted because he had tattoos on his face, had a history of violence, and used drug. In his estimation, it allowed the police to cut corners so that they could arrest him sooner. In the end, the jury was able to come to a conclusion that they were guilty of the crime after only an hour of deliberation. He was given life without the possibility of parole +10 years. She was given 30 years in prison, 15 years to serve, and a 10 year sentence.

There was a lot of evidence that came to the forefront during the trial. For example, her two-year-old sister was the first one to point out that the child was missing. The parents continued to claim their innocence, but the district attorney was not buying it. She said: “All this fake crying and fake tears he did during the interviews about how much he loved his children and that he did in the courtroom are a joke.”
