There are so many different types of cats and, to be quite honest, I’ve never met a cat that I didn’t love. There are certain cat breeds, however, that just seems to stand out above the rest and that is the case with the Maine Coon cats. They are one of the most majestic breeds of cats that have ever walked on the face of the earth. It doesn’t matter if you are looking at their luxurious coat, physique or the traits that make them so unique, they are absolutely beautiful to behold.
If you have been bitten by the Maine Coon cat bug, then you’re actually going to flip when you see them as adorable kittens. They have that little bit of extra fluff that makes them beautiful and it lets you know that they are going to grow up into something that is much bigger than life.
Although the breed of cat is well known, the history is not quite so familiar to people. In fact, they are steeped in mystery. It is thought that they may have come with the ships of 11th-century Norseman. When they are grown, they can weigh as much as 18 pounds and can be 48 inches long! They are made to live in harsh climates because they can stay warm, thanks to their shaggy coat and they can walk easily on the snow and ice because their paws are so large.
