Susan Boyle’s incredible journey from obscurity to stardom is the stuff dreams are made of. Hers is one of if not the most, memorable success stories ever seen on any televised talent show. She first burst onto the scene after her famous 2009 audition for the hit talent show “Britan’s Got Talent,” where she stunned audiences and the judges with her exquisite rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream.” Everyone in the studio, from the audience to production staff, to the judges were laughing at her when this then-47-year old Scottish singer from “Blackburn near Bathgate, West Lothian” took the stage. They pre-judged her based solely on her looks and quirky personality.
But, all that changed the moment she began singing, and over the last ten years, she’s amassed numerous accolades, gone on world tours, and amassed a fortune worth an estimated 40 million dollars according to Cheatsheet. Susan Boyle is now best known for having the voice of an angel and coming into fame and success later in life than most in her profession do. But her humble beginnings is one of the biggest reasons, so many folks all over the world adore this singer, she’s a real-life Cinderella story. A few years ago, Susan made an appearance on a popular British talk show called “The Paul O’Grady Show,” which was on the air from 2004 to 2015. O’Grady is a popular TV icon in the United Kingdom, and throughout the years, he’s had some of Britain’s most prominent celebrities on his show.

One Christmas season, he invited Susan Boyle on to sing the classic Christmas carol, “Little Drummer Boy,” with O’Grady introducing Susan as a “True global singing sensation. In four years, she shifted more than 20 million albums worldwide. She’s an international star.”

It’s pretty clear to see how far Susan has come since her days on Britain’s Got Talent. For instance, she no longer has frizzy gray hair. Instead, she sports a very sophisticated and stylish do. And of course, her voice has only gotten better.
We can also tell that she’s grown more accustomed to the spotlight as she now stands on stage with the grace and confidence of a seasoned pro!

During the song, the background singers set the tone, providing a steady harmonious “hum.” The modest group of four singers gives the entire performance just the right sense of gravitas. It doesn’t feel quite choir-like, but the tone makes it feel almost like an opera.

Then Susan’s angelic voice fills the air with a sweet and subdued tone, adding to the song’s reverence. Once the drummer boys roll in, we really start to feel the tempo of the song pick up as her voice begins to rise.

But where this performance really takes off is when she introduces the bagpiper. That’s right, a fully kilted bagpiper enters the stage and starts filling the air with glorious melodies. Now the sound of bagpipes may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for this rendition, they do add a touch of Scottish flavor. After all, Susan is Scottish!
