Her Next Delivery Was Too Expensive, So Breeders Abandoned Paralyzed Pregnant Dog

Although thousands of animal rights activists are fighting and raising awareness about the inhumanity of puppy mills where dogs are bred over and over in unspeakably horrible conditions, there are still plenty of operations with ran by heartless people who profit from selling the puppies of expensive breeds. Maria is a Dachshund who, like many dogs in her situation, was kept in cramped conditions in such a puppy farm. The pup had a terrible life as she was in poor health, but the breeders forced her to keep breeding anyway. The suffering pregnant dog was paralyzed from her ribs down, and having more puppies would have jeopardized her life.

The breeders knew this, and they also knew that the only way she would be able to deliver their “merchandise” was via a dangerous C-section procedure, which would cost them a lot of money — money they just did not want to pay. So they decided to cut their losses and dump the dog. Fortunately, Maria was rescued by some kind-hearted folks from the rescue organization Friends of Emma. They were able to save Maria’s life by getting her to a vet who treated the pup for anemia and flea infestation.

Fortunately, Maria, unlike thousands of dogs in her position, was able to see a happy ending, giving birth to a litter of healthy puppies.

She also began to recover the use of her legs, and she’s even wagging her tail. Hopefully, she will find a loving forever home that will allow her to live the full and happy life she deserves.
