What do you love most about Christmas? If you are like most people, you will have a difficult time choosing which of the many traditions your family takes part in as your favorite. Some of those traditions are fairly new but others have been around for a long time. For example, does your family go caroling? It is something that seems to be going out of style but many people still enjoy doing it. You don’t even have to sing beautifully to have people enjoy what you are doing.
Something else that we might appreciate about Christmas is all of the activities that involve our children. I’m not really talking about the opening of gifts or the kid table at the family dinner, I’m talking about concerts, programs and dance recitals. There is something special about it that we all can appreciate. I’m sure that Vince Mora was proud when he caught the performance on stage of these little girls. He considers himself to be a filmmaker but in the end, it was the cute dancers that really made the film come together.
His daughter Emelynn is dancing with the Rowe Dance Academy for this Christmas concert. They are performing ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ and they go over the top with their performance. After all, they are wearing matching furry boots and red felt antlers and necklaces with bells are around their necks.
When the music starts, they squat behind a ribbon but all of a sudden, they jump up and start dancing.
They start singing about the reindeer that pull the sleigh.
“You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?”
After that, they stomp and point to their noses when they sing about the lead reindeer.
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose and if you ever saw it you would even say it glows.”
When they get to the part of the song where the other reindeer won’t let Rudolph play, they shake their fingers.
“All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.”
You can hear the audience laughing in the background.
They do a really good job of dancing but they also forget what to do on occasion. It can be tough to remember a routine, especially when you are this young.
To show how Rudolph saved the day they hugged themselves to the lyrics:
“Then how the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee, ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, You’ll go down in history.’”
It is obvious that they have practiced the routine many times but there are also times when they kind of do their own thing. In the end, the middle child blows a kiss and everyone loves what they are seeing.
