When you’re in high school, there’s no better time for a teen to find out what you are passionate about and unlock your potential by honing your skills. It doesn’t matter if it’s in sports, music, or academics, high school is the time when you can really find your niche and begin the road to mastery. And while these engaging activities often mean more commitment, discipline, and dedication (words most teens try to avoid like the plague), they can serve as healthy outlets when you’re feeling burnt out from all the schoolwork and many pressures inherent in teenage life. Best of all, if your outlet involves your friends, then you’ve really got a winning ticket.
Drumline serves as a great example of the type of activity that allows teens to tap into their creativity and unleash musical greatness, all while hanging out with a group of friends sharing the same passion. And just to prove how cool it is to be a part of a Drumline, some high schoolers calling themselves the “Hot Scots” recently put on a mind-blowing performance in their school’s talent show. While wearing kilts along with black sneakers and shirts, the five-person team gathered on stage, looking as relaxed and as calm as could be — just another day at the office. Indeed, Dylan, Matt, Elias, Jordan, and Nigel may have seemed a bit nonchalant about the whole “talent show” thing, but as folks soon found out, they were well prepared.
From the way they walked on stage to when they began to perform, it was clear that performing in a Drumline was something these teens were really passionate about. And we’re willing to wager that these kids had as much fun during their rehearsal and choreography was as they did on stage.
Their animated expressions to the way they smoothly interacted with the audience and each other, these teens had mastered the art of entertainment, all while never losing focus on flawlessly executing their beat along with some flashy tricks like flipping drumsticks. They even had one routine where they created a hopping domino effect as one drummer went solo before being joined by the others one by one.
It was evident that the crowd was eating out of their hands as the Hot Scots introduced hot solo performances, fun choreography, and an out of this world stage presence.
They even threw in a bit of freestyle as they bopped their heads, swayed, and jumped while playing. The performance was nothing short of spectacular, and there was no doubt about who won first place.
These kids really nailed it. I feel sorry for any act that had to follow these guys!
