The First Surviving Black Sextuplets Are Now High School Graduates

When somebody has a baby, is perhaps one of the more interesting and amazing things that can happen to a family. It becomes even more amazing if they have twins and if triplets are born, it is something that takes many people by surprise. We live in a day and age of people who are using various types of fertilization processes in order to have babies. As a result, we see multiple births happening more and more frequently and at times, it may even be Sextuplets. Admittedly, it is very rare and dangerous to have that many babies but at times, they not only survive, they thrive.

Diamond is a woman who just so happens to have that many children but it is more than just having Sextuplets, it’s the fact that she is black and those children are the first black Sextuplets to survive. It even goes beyond the survival of the children, however, because that happened a number of years ago. We can only imagine how difficult it would be to have to raise six children that were all the same age and those difficulties would continue, even when they got older. The amazing thing about her children, however, is the fact that they have now all graduated high school. We can only imagine how quiet the house is going to be now.

It happened when the sextuplets all graduated on the same day from a Alabama high school. It was a celebration, not only for the family and all that they were able to accomplish but for the community that saw the family being raised over all those years.

They had a graduation ceremony, although it was somewhat limited due to safety concerns over the coronavirus. There is also a lot of diversity in the family. For example, Kyle is 6 foot four with autism and Kobe wants to play college basketball. Kobe and Kaylynne will be going to Alabama state.

Diamond ended up divorcing her husband so it was difficult but they remained friends over the years. It can be difficult enough to raise six babies, let alone having to do it by yourself. Her ex-husband, Chris, can recall when all the babies fit into the palm of his hand. Now they are about to celebrate their 18th birthday!

There is a lot to learn from this and both parents continue to learn over the years. Chris said, “These kids have been my life for almost 18 years. They have been my reason.”

It will be amazing to see where they go from here.
