A smuggler was seen walking through an airport in India and customs officers had some unusual questions. He had a strange walk as he traveled through the airport, so they decided to do some searching. In the end, they found almost $60,000 worth of gold in his bottom.
The man was heading into Kerala’s Kannur airport from Dubai on a GoAir flight. He didn’t want to have to cough up the 18% tax so he stashed the gold in his rectum.

It is thought that he had an awkward walk and was stopped and checked as a result. That is when officials from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) discovered the gold. They also shared pictures of the gold as it was being weighed.
Although they did talk about seizing the gold, they didn’t say exactly where or how it was concealed. That is somewhat left to the imagination.
Officials do say that it is rare for people to hide the metal inside of their bodies. Most try to bring it in other objects, such as umbrellas, toothpaste, chocolate boxes, and purses. One person had even lined their underwear with gold but didn’t get away with it.
