When it comes to the holidays, there is something that I think we can all agree on. That is the fact that there are a lot of nostalgic events that surround every holiday we celebrate. Perhaps we might think about Christmas, as many of us will listen to Christmas music, put up a Christmas tree or decorate with lights and it is something that fills us with nostalgia each time we do it. The same is also true for Thanksgiving, and many families feel as if it is the best time of year to get together to share a meal.
There is also something else that we might think about when it comes to the holidays, and that’s Charlie Brown. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about ‘a Charlie Brown Christmas’ or ‘a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’, it just seems that they are one of the most nostalgic things that we see on TV that time of year. As is the case with almost anything these days, it seems as if people are now finding fault with the Thanksgiving Peanuts special. One of the scenes shows Snoopy cutting into a turkey and handing Woodstock a plate. Now people are calling it a cannibalistic scene and would like the movie pulled from the air.
When this first hit social media, people were quick to rush on to give their own opinion. They were also quick to call Woodstock a cannibal. One person wrote that the closing scene where Woodstock ate turkey made them realize that the bird was actually a cannibal.
Of course, some people were serious about this situation and other people were just having a good time with it. One thing is certain, love it or hate it, you can always sit down and watch it again this year. If you happened to miss it on PBS, you can watch it on Apple TV from November 25-27.
