When we pass away, we are all going to leave behind some type of legacy. For some of us, it is just a matter of being a good person and perhaps doing what we can to help others in life. There are some people, however, who are known far and wide because of their celebrity status. Those individuals aren’t always going to do the right thing but some people continue to do the right thing throughout their entire life and they are loved for it. That was the case with Michael Douglas and his wife, Annie Douglas. Unfortunately, Annie has passed away at the age of 102.
During the time that Annie was alive, she worked very hard to help others. She was responsible for the creation of the Annie Douglas Center for women in downtown LA, along with helping to restore playgrounds in Los Angeles as well. Perhaps she is best known for her philanthropic work, which also included helping by donating millions to institutions through the Douglas Foundation. Many hospitals and even the Motion Picture & Television Fund benefited from that work. Many people throughout the community were familiar with what she did.
Although she had many fans in her lifetime, one of her biggest fans was her husband, Michael Douglas. They were married in 1954 after meeting in Paris and they had a very long relationship, considering the celebrity status that they held. He even said at one time that he wasn’t sure what would’ve happened to him if he had married her.
In the end, Annie was able to live a long and satisfying life. She leaves behind quite a legacy, with foundations in place that continue the philanthropy, even though she has died.
