Most of us are familiar with Amber alerts. We get them on our phones regularly when somebody is kidnapped or a child is in danger.
Often, we look at the Amber alert and realize that there is not much we can do about it. That wasn’t the case in Massachusetts, however, when an 11-year-old girl was kidnapped.
Charlotte Moccia was taken when she was walking home from being dropped off by the school bus. Video footage showed that she was forced into a vehicle.
Immediately, authorities put out an Amber alert. They also shared the picture of the blue Honda with the public, saying that it was likely the same vehicle that drove off with Charlotte inside.
That was hours earlier but it still stuck in the mind of Amanda Disley and her husband Benny Correa. They were on Interstate 90 with their three children when they spotted a blue Honda.
It was the wheels that gave the car away because it had special rims. It matched the rims that were on the Amber alert. They didn’t know if it was the right vehicle but they decided to follow it.
Suddenly, they went from following the vehicle to chasing the kidnapper and even risking their own lives to keep their eye on him as he tried to speed away.
Amanda called 911 from the front seat and started recording the event. At one point, they were driving 100 miles an hour and he was just driving through red lights without stopping.
You can watch the moment that the car was pulled over in the video below and see how this unsuspecting couple managed to become heroes in the process.
