After One Year of Dating 102-Year-Old Woman Says Yes and Marries 100-Year-Old WWII Vet

Romantic love is an enormous part of our human experience with no age limits. Many of us long to find that special someone with whom we can grow old together. However, we also think that romance is for the young, and people stop caring about that sort of thing past a certain age, especially the more “physical” expressions of love. However, the newlyweds in this story might change your perspective about love for folks in their golden years.

Phyllis and John Cook are the perfect examples of how we can find love at any age. This happy couple lives in the Kingston Residence, a senior living facility near Toledo, Ohio. Looking at these two, one might assume they’d been together for decades, but they only just recently married!

Phyllis says she knows others might find the idea of falling in love at her age crazy, but she doesn’t care. That’s what’s so heartwarming about this story. These two centurions are like two teenagers who fell deeply in love!

The two had been dating for a year before deciding it was time to take the next step. So they went to a local courthouse and filed for a marriage license.

John explained that they never actually planned on getting married that day. They were just going to get the license. But while at the courthouse, they were both told they could go ahead and get married right then and there if they wished.

John’s answer was abrupt, and without the slightest hesitation, he said yes! And that’s how the two love birds became Mr. and Mrs. Cook, spending their honeymoon back at Kingston Residence as its only newlywed couple.

The two are both widows twice over and know what it takes to make a loving relationship last. They say that it’s all about having respect for each other’s space. The couple continues to live in separate apartments, hers upstairs, his downstairs. When John was asked about their favorite shared activity, he wryly replied:

“Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about that.”
