Royal Watchers Can’t Stop Raving Over Adorable Scene Featuring Queen Elizabeth and the Paddington Bear Enjoying Tea Together

In celebration of her Platinum Jubilee, the Queen was featured in a short video alongside a children’s character beloved by millions — Paddington Bear.

The heartwarming sketch marked the opening of the Platinum Party at the Palace event, where crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s amazing 70 years on the throne.

The show began with Queen and Adam Lambert performing the iconic song “We Wil Rock You,” Her Majesty could be seen playing along to the drumbeat with her teaspoon and teacup while sitting opposite Paddington in Buckingham Palace.

During their humorous exchange, Paddington, voiced by Ben Whishaw (from Mayr Poppins Returns), asked the Queen:

“Perhaps you would like a marmalade sandwich? I always keep one for emergencies” – as he pulled his famous sarnie from his hat.

One would imagine such a question would inspire horror and shock when posed to such a regal figure as the Queen of England.

However, her majesty surprised Paddington as she pulled out her own sandwich from her handbag, telling the bear:

“So do I – I keep mine in here.”

“For later,” she added.

Viewers were not only happy to see Her Majesty having a little fun, but many couldn’t get over her fabulous acting skills, especially when her co-star was an animated bear.

One person tweeted:

“The skit with the Queen and Paddington was so adorable it made me tear up. That she was game for it — And good acting too! What a lovely 70 years…”

A second added: “What brilliant acting from our wonderful Queen. Brilliantly put together with a Paddington bear. What a lady, what an iconic legend.”

A third tweeted: “The Queen’s acting was brilliant, we mustn’t forget Paddington was CGI (Computer-generated imagery). And whether you’re royal supporters or not everyone should love it.”

“Tonight has simply been amazing! You can tell Her Majesty was enjoying every minute of this,” added a fourth. “And I must say, The Queen’s acting skills are brilliant!”

In a statement, Buckingham Palace explained:

“Her Majesty is well known for her sense of humor, so it should be no surprise that she decided to take part in tonight’s sketch.

“There was an interest in the filming and animation process and the opportunity to invite a famous bear to tea was just too much fun to miss.

“While The Queen may not be attending the concert in person, she was very keen that people understood how much it meant to her and that all those watching had a great time.”
