72-Year-Old Woman Becomes One Of The Oldest New Moms In The World After Giving Birth To Baby Boy

There are many couples who struggle to get pregnant and have children. Sometimes, they will try for a few months or years and then they will seek the help of medical professionals. That was the case with a woman named Daljinder Kaur. She and her husband also struggled to get pregnant and eventually, they went to see doctors in September 2014 for fertility treatments. The difference is, Daljinder was in her 70s and her husband was 80. They had not been able to have children for 50 years.

“I used to feel empty. There was so much loneliness,” Daljinder told the Agence France-Presse. “I had lost hope of becoming a mother ever.” There was also a family feud that was ongoing for quite some time and after it was resolved, the couple decided it was time to have a baby. It did take some convincing but eventually, she talked the fertility doctors into treating her with IVF. It took 2 years but it finally took.

On April 19, 2016, Daljinder gave birth to a healthy son without any complications. At that point, she became one of the world’s oldest new mothers.

You are probably surprised that she didn’t have any complications with the birth but there is something else. She also breastfed her son for a number of months.

When she gave an interview a year after the birth took place, Daljinder said she didn’t realize motherhood would be as difficult as what it was. Even though they have had their ups and downs, she and her husband have no regrets. It was a dream that was a long time in the making and it finally came true.
