If you’re one of those people who happens to love animals, you probably think that any type of animal is adorable. Then again, there are always going to be those that tend to be over-the-top and that is the case with Penguins. There is nothing quite like watching a penguin to melt your heart and that is especially true when it comes to baby chicks. With their tiny beaks, fluffy bodies and little chirps, it’s enough to send you into a full, heart meltdown.
When footage came up recently of a group of Emperor penguin chicks being threatened by a giant petrel, people who were watching it were absolutely frightened out of their mind. It gets a little bit scary at times but in the end, this footage, which is from a BBC documentary called Spy in the Snow is absolutely delightful. That TV program goes to the coldest parts of the earth and uses an electronic animal to infiltrate right into the natural habitat of those animals.
You can see the footage unfolding in this viral video clip. The penguin chicks are waddling along, having just a perfectly normal day when the giant petrel comes over. He is nasty and means business. In fact, he even grabs one of the chicks and tries to separate it from the group.
We’re happy to say that the Emperor penguin chick gets away and they huddled together to form a little circle. The chicks are defiant of the enemy but in the end, they are only babies and making a single wrong move could prove to be fatal.
Fortunately, help is not very far away. Over the hill comes an Adelie penguin, also known as the ‘feistiest penguin in the world’. It races over to the rescue and puts itself right in the middle to protect the chicks.
The giant petrel was not about ready to have a confrontation with the latest addition so he flies away.
Thanks to the Adelie, who came up and saved the day, the penguin chicks are safe. They all waddled off as if nothing ever happened.
I really can’t say enough about this adorable video. If you’re ready to have a great day, this is the perfect way to start it. You can see it all in this viral video:
