Deep Sea Pictures Of A Glass Octopus Finally Prove They Exist

When it comes to exploration, many of us think about what exists in space. To be certain, there are many things to be discovered and the universe is so vast that humans may never be able to fully understand everything there is to understand about it. What many people don’t realize, however, is that there is an entire universe under the water of the ocean and much of it has yet to be discovered. That’s right, there is still a lot to learn about the oceans and the secrets that they hold. Every once in a while, however, we get to learn something new about it and it amazes us.

There are certain areas of the ocean that are protected, and that includes an area near Samoa in the Pacific. It is the Phoenix Highlands Protected Area, and a deep-sea underwater rover was taking a look at what was below the surface. Since it was able to get deep into the sea and what existed, we get to see pictures of things that had previously only been reported to exist. That included what they were able to film in the following video and it really opens our eyes to something that is both wondrous and beautiful.

The rover was at a depth of 651 m exploring a reef complex when they were suddenly joined by a transparent glass octopus. As it floated through the water, which was so deep that it was pitch black, the octopus probably would have escaped their notice. Fortunately, they had lights on and the video is incredible.

As you watch this glass octopus on video, you will probably wonder if it is a real thing. It is almost too beautiful to be real, but it does exist and it is just one of the many secrets that we have to discover under the sea.
