Losing a beloved pet can be a very stressful time in life. Even if they are only gone for a very short amount of time and we find them safe and sound, it still gives us a fright, to say the least. Every once in a while, however, you hear about somebody who loses a dog and the dog stays gone for a very long time. That is what happened to this family, but it has a twist that you probably would never expect.
The dog’s name was Leo and a couple of months ago, he disappeared from his home in Turkey. The family looked all over and could not find any sign of him. Needless to say, they were devastated over the loss and they thought that they would never see their beloved dog again. As it turns out, that was about to change in a very interesting and unexpected way.
Sertaç Araç is the son of Leo’s human and he was working in a town about 60 miles away from home. Suddenly, he saw something familiar out of the corner of his eye. It was a dog that looked very much like his parent’s dog that was missing. How could this be, however, because he was so far from home?
The dog looked just like a stray and was sitting on the outside of a café. It looked as if he had been living life on the street for quite some time.
“I took a picture and sent it to my mother and father,” Araç told The Dodo, admitting that it seemed unlikely, given the distance, that this was their dog. “I was in doubt.”
Although the family had some serious doubts that it was Leo, they decided they would drive to the neighboring town and look for themselves.
All you have to do is watch this video and any doubt that you may have will disappear.
Leo didn’t hesitate, he recognized his family right away. He was also overjoyed with the prospect of going home again.
“When Leo saw us, he was very happy and we were very happy,” Araç said.
Leo is now home, surrounded by the family that loves him so much.
It seems as if there may have been more to the story than meets the eye. When Leo went missing, there were two other dogs in the family that also disappeared. It seems as if a dognapper was behind it but now that Leo is home safe, they are hoping they will find their other dogs as well.
“We’re so happy Leo is home. I will look carefully everywhere I visit in hopes we find [the other two dogs],” Araç said. “My father and mother will continue to search as long as they can, because they see them as their sons and love them.”
