Pixar Is Making People Cry With ‘Kitbull’, A Short Film About Friendship Between Abused Pitbull And Stray Kitten

There are so many different movies that come out on an annual basis but when they are created by Pixar, they are sure to be a crowd favorite. We owe a lot of smiles to that production company, along with a few tears as well. Not only do they produce some lengthy movies for our enjoyment, they also put together short films every once in a while and this one is going to leave you in tears.

It involves a friendship between a stray kitten and an abused pit bull. The production, known as Kittbull was directed by Rosanna Sullivan and it is a heartwarming story of a kinship that came about under the most unusual and sad circumstances. If you’re ready for some good movie tears, then you are ready for this short video.

“To be fully honest, it started from a cat video,” – Rosie laughs. “I love watching cat videos in times of stress. And I thought, you know what, I just want to draw a little kitten doing something silly and very very cat-like. At first, I just wanted to draw something that made me feel good and was fun, but it evolved into something more personal to me, eventually, I realized that growing up I was always very sensitive and very shy. And had actually a lot trouble making connections, making friendships. So I related to this kitten because it never really stepped out of its comfort zone to be vulnerable and make a connection. So that’s eventually what the story became,” the director of the short animation recalls.

At the start of the story, a kitten wanders around in the neighborhood and goes into a cardboard box for refuge. It is there that he meets a pitbull.

The pitbull has suffered abuse from his owner and the two of them become close friends. It almost is as if they are showcasing the stereotypes that pit bulls tend to face and is attempting to break them.

The stray black kitten is afraid of the dog at first. After a little while, however, the bighearted dog saves the cat and the two become friends.

The short is drawn in a beautiful way and many people were commenting on how much they love the video. Even the producer, Kathryn Henderson said that they made the switch over to 2D, which is different than what they usually do.
