What is the first thing that you think of when you think of a peacock? Most people think about a regal bird that is green and blue and has elaborate plumage. Many of the pictures that you see of peacocks show the plumage opened up like a fan. Some people don’t realize that it is only the male that has those impressive tail feathers. The female doesn’t have the feathers, although she does have some unique coloring. She is known as a peahen. When you see a peacock with his tail fanned out, it really is amazing.
Another thing that many people are not aware of is the fact that there is such a thing as an albino peacock. They are so unusual and rare that they are rarely ever seen, even in pictures. Although most people would refer to them as an albino peacock, they are actually a type of Indian Blue Peafowl. When you look at them, however, the green and blue iridescent plumage look somewhat metallic. At any rate, it’s quite beautiful.
Another type of peacock has bronze body features along with some green coloring. The tail is known as the train and it is used for courtship. Some males will fan it out to impress the peahens nearby but in the end, they typically only impress any humans that happen to be watching.
If you were to see a peafowl with all white plumage, you are seeing something extremely rare. When this person happened to stumble upon one of those mythical looking creatures, they couldn’t help but shoot a video. It was actually in their town and was standing on a brick patio.
The peacock is the national bird of India and it is also the bird that is shown in the video below. As the people were shooting the video, the white peacock put on quite a show.
He turns around and pops open his dazzling tailfeathers. After doing so, he makes an ear piercing sound that many people, who have peacocks in their neighborhood, are familiar with.
At one point, the peacock flaps his feathers and walks very close to the person with a video camera. He is gorgeous, which is probably why the video has been watched more than 2 million times.
You can watch the peacock spread his tailfeathers in this video:
