A video has surfaced that shows a dolphin and a dog playing a game of chase in the shallow coastal waters on a beach. The video is captivating audiences around the world and showing people that dogs man not just be man’s best friend, but seem to be loved by other animals, too, including at least one playful dolphin. When Anastasia Vinnikova was walking with her daughter and their medium-sized dog Patrick, they were on the coast of Crimea’s Black Sea. It was here that she managed to capture the joyous play of Patrick and his dolphin friend. Vinnikova was actually recording Patrick playing in the surf when the dolphin appeared suddenly.
As Vinnikova was filming Patrick and the dolphin playing, a pod of dolphins could be seen hunting nearby. Meanwhile, Patrick was running and frolicking in the surf. He was even able to touch the dolphin’s tail before he backed off and watched the dolphin return to the sea. It’s clear Patrick was having a blast with this playful scenario. When the dolphin swam out to sea, the pod was still circling the water offshore. Then the dolphin circled back to play with Patrick just a little more, and the dog scurried over to play with his new friend. Vinnikova thinks it’s amusing that now Patrick has touched a dolphin but she still hasn’t.

She noted that no one got hurt in the play. The dolphins were swimming close to the shore so that they could catch fish. When she shared the video on Instagram, it quickly went viral and got worldwide attention. The moment Vinnikova captured on film is pure magic and enchanting and it delighted people everywhere. One person even said they’re buying tickets to Crimea now. This isn’t the first documented interaction between dogs and dolphins. On the same day, another woman was able to capture a dolphin swimming alongside her boat as it began to interact with her two puppies. You can see that scene below.
