I think we could safely say that we have seen a number of talented people in the past few years. Of course, Those talented individuals have always been there but we might not have recognized them, simply because it was not possible to get them front of the masses. That has changed in recent years, thanks to the internet and to the television talent shows, we now have access to talent from around the world. In fact, all it really takes is for someone to upload an awesome video to YouTube and with the right exposure, they will be an overnight success.
Something else to consider is the age of the entertainer. Most of us probably think of it as being a game for the young but in reality, people of all ages have the ability to entertain us. That is clearly seen when 71-year-old Rene Bishop went onto “The Voice Senior” and performed an amazing rendition of ‘Unchained Melody’. By the time he was finished, the judges were on their feet for all the right reasons. In fact, they didn’t take long to decide that he was worthy of their attention and I think that every person in the stands was in agreement.
The Voice is a rather unusual show and it is one that relies on the talent of the singer, rather than on their stage presence. After all, the judges aren’t even looking at them when they first start singing. They don’t see the performer unless they decide they are worth the effort and they push a button to turn their seat around.
In most cases, The Voice will showcase young artists but this unique segment gives the seniors a shot at fame. We can be happy that they do because it gives this senior and many others the chance to be heard. Watch the audition for yourself below.
