When a person has an exceptional amount of talent as a singer, especially if they write their own music, they will often perform their songs and they will do many others. There are some people, however, who are not only able to sing the songs of other people, they are often called on to do so when a tribute takes place. Bruno Mars is one of those individuals and he was given the opportunity to give a tribute to Sting in 2014 at the Kennedy Center Honors. Not only was he able to captivate the audience with his performance, Sting was also quite impressed with what he was able to do as well.
When most people think about Sting, they think about the music that he created when he was singing with The Police. He also did quite a lot of work that is memorable through his solo career as well. The music that was given to Bruno Mars to sing during the tribute was ‘So Lonely’ and ‘Message in a Bottle’. He did an absolutely amazing job singing the songs and he even managed to tone down some of his typical energy that he shows when he is on the stage. It really was a wonderful tribute that honored a man who has given us a lot in the way of music.
There have been many performers who were honored at the Kennedy Center Honors over the years. Often, they called on the best performers possible to sing their songs and to provide them with an evening that they will not forget. Fortunately, it is also something that we can enjoy as well.
