There are some rock bands that come and go and it seems as if they are just getting a foothold when suddenly, they go down the tubes and disappear, never to be seen again. We sometimes refer to them as “one-hit wonders” but they may even have a string of hits and be quite popular before they hit rock bottom. Other bands, however, are popular when they first get started and it just seems as if they continue to grow in popularity. One of those bands is from the late 70s and 80s, the Bee Gees. Not only were they popular back in the day, they continue to be popular, even after their death.
When some people think about the Bee Gees, they automatically think about songs, such as “Staying Alive”. Although they certainly did produce some of the top disco songs in the 70s, that wasn’t the only thing that they were able to do. When you really get down to it, they were a very talented group of brothers that could harmonize in ways that other bands could only dream of doing. They were excellent at doing it when they were young and when they got older, they just seemed to age gracefully and only got better at what they could do. That is why they were able to perform in Las Vegas in 1977, and that performance was worthy of an epic video.
In the video you see below, the Bee Gees are performing live in Las Vegas for one night only. They were singing one of their old classics, however, they were singing a song that was made popular by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. It was a duet, “Islands in the Stream”, and they did it justice.
Although we will never have the opportunity of seeing the Bee Gees live in performance again, we still have these videos to turn back to. As you watch the video below, it will make you nostalgic for a band that was greatly underrated but downright awesome.
