When somebody has the ability to sing and that talent goes beyond what is typically seen, they sometimes join together with other singers in order to put on an amazing performance. They may even tour with those other singers as part of a band. We have seen this many times in history but one of the ways in which we see it is with the United States Navy Band. They are a relatively small group of musicians but when they play together and sing, they are anything but small. That is clear to see in this video, when they pay tribute to The Jersey Boys with an incredible medley.
This concert on the Avenue took place at the US Navy Memorial in 2014. I’m sure that everyone in attendance at the concert was absolutely thrilled to hear some of the old songs that have been popular for so many different years. After all, the Jersey boys started in the 1960s and included Frankie Valley, Nick Massey and Tommy DeVito! They had a lot of hit songs, including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sherry” and “Walk like a Man”. Just like the band that is performing this day, they are a quartet and they had a lot of style. Of course, the original Jersey boys had a lot of problems among themselves that eventually disbanded the group but the U.S. Navy band continues to play on.
It is always interesting when you have the opportunity to see some old songs performed by someone that does it justice. The U.S. Navy band is a real treat to listen to, and they don’t disappoint in this video.
Music has a way of pulling us together and it is often a part of our culture that we don’t give as much credit as we should. This performance is sure to make you remember why music is so important to us.
