It doesn’t matter who we are, when we are a parent, we are going to have to do things that we don’t necessarily want to do. In some cases, it has to do with the PTA and a letter that we may receive about some fundraising efforts that are taking place at the school. Let’s face it, nobody enjoys doing these fundraising events, regardless of whether it is selling candy or going on a hike. This PTA, however, had a different idea.
When the letter was sent out, one of the parents at the elementary school posted it to the Internet on Reddit. It was talking about fundraisers but it said: “in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door, collecting money and delivering goods.” On the letter, it says, “Please help us avoid that by supporting our PTA with your donation, and helping achieve our goals to support our students and faculty.”
The parents were provided with five options to make a donation. It included a $10 option for parents who said: “I do not want to bake, so here is the money I would have spent on cupcakes;” a $25 option for parents who identify with this: “I do not want to hit up friends, family, and co-workers, so here is the money I would have spent on wrapping paper;” and a $100 option for parents who say they “really wouldn’t have helped anyway, so here is $100 to forget my name.”
The post was captioned: “Shoutout to the PTA at my kids’ elementary school for the most hilariously honest fundraiser I’ve ever seen.”
Many people have been commenting on the post, including the following that most people can agree with:
“It’s such a good sales pitch for me that I almost want to support this random school that I have no idea where it’s located,” one person commented.
Another user talked about her PTA that sent out a similar letter but it had a $75 option. They said: “[It] was obviously written from the perspective of a fellow parent who understands how overwhelming these undertakings can often be.”
Sometimes, an honest approach is the best approach, especially if you want a good laugh.
