Tom Hanks Gives A Monolog From Home, Acknowledging ‘Strange Times’ And Thanking Hospital Workers

We find ourselves in a rather unusual situation, thanks to concerns over the coronavirus. The old adage of “better safe than sorry” has taken on an entirely new meaning because the government has mandated that we keep our distance socially from each other and that we shut ourselves in our homes if at all possible. Even though they have taken great measures to ensure the safety of those who live in the country where these rules have been put in place, it doesn’t mean that people are immune to the possibility of getting COVID-19. In fact, it has touched many people, including some celebrities.

One of the first celebrities to be tested positive for the coronavirus was Tom Hanks. I think that the world was holding its breath as they heard about him struggling in the hospital but eventually, he was sent home and now he has been given a clean bill of health. Of course, he is staying at home and self-isolating but he had a message to give to the world and Saturday Night Live provided him with the opportunity to give it. He gave the opening monologue in the at-home edition of Saturday Night Live and in the process, talked about the strange situation we find ourselves in and the hospitals that took care of him.

It doesn’t seem as if there is much to smile about these days, but it is still important to smile at every opportunity. We have that opportunity, thanks to these shows that continue to make us chuckle, even if they have to do so from their own homes. Tom Hanks just adds to it, and he is a familiar face that makes us feel a little better.

Nobody is really sure where this is all going to end but there is one thing that we do know, Tom Hanks is an example of someone who was able to come through the infection and do so in style. Watch his monologue in the video below.
