Music has the ability to move people in very unique ways. You can be on top of the world, feeling as if you are as happy as you could possibly be and when a sad song comes on the radio, suddenly you are in a melancholy mood. The opposite is also true. You could be in a really foul mood and in the middle of the worst day of your life but when you hear that special song, it just seems to pick you up and make you feel as if life is worth living. Music can also make us move, as can those who tend to move to it regularly.
I’m talking about dancing and the two dancers in this video are putting on a performance that is beyond amazing. The dance partners are Katie Boyle and Jason Colacino and they have been dancing together for quite some time. It is always a treat to watch them when they are out on the floor but for this performance, which was to the tune of Honky-Tonk Woman, you can’t help but tap your feet while you are watching. The chemistry between them fills the audience and it even comes through in this video.
Although the honky-tonk song they are dancing to it is quite difficult, they make it appear as if it is easy. For them, it is actually second nature. The type of dance they are doing is West Coast Swing, which has been around for quite some time.
West Coast Swing makes the dancer’s limbs look as if they are all elastic when they are moving. Jason and Katie are able to do this masterfully and in fact, they even make it look easy.
Katie loves this type of dance but she has classical ballet training in her background. When Jason twirls her in a circle, you can see it in action.
Jason and Katie have been competing with each other for quite some time. He has even earned the U.S. Open Swing Title and in numerous other titles as well. When you see his moves, it is easy to see why he won so many.
Something about this performance makes us feel good from the inside out. Perhaps it is because they are really enjoying their time on the dance floor.
Unfortunately, Jason died a few years ago but he is still considered to be one of the most gifted dancers to ever grace the floor.
You can watch this duo out on the floor in this video. It is something that will really make you wish you could dance along:
