2 Men Bring Tears To Our Eyes With Their Powerful Performance Of ‘Hallelujah’

There are many songs that we may know by heart but we don’t necessarily know the artists that were behind them. An example of this is the theme from Star Wars, which came from John Williams and was performed by a number of artists. Even though we may not know those individuals, we certainly know what they have done and the theme song still continues to ring in our years down to this day.

You might be able to separate music into two different parts. You have the instrumental music and the vocals. It’s always great when they come together perfectly but sometimes, it’s nice just to sit back and listen to some instrumental music. If you happen to be one of those individuals, then this Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah played on two cellos is going to make your day.

If you have never heard the song Hallelujah before, it was released in 1984 after being written by Leonard Cohen. At first, it didn’t do very well but eventually, it made its rounds and was recorded by Jeff Buckley.

In 2001, the song gained popularity when it was featured in Shrek, the film. Since that time, many arrangements have been recorded and this one by 2CELLOS is one to beat.

This is a unique performance and it is an experience from the beginning to the end. Perhaps it has something to do with the visuals in the video but in either way, you can be sure that the original author would’ve loved it.

This isn’t the first time that these cello players did a cover that was noteworthy. These Croatian cellists, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser did Smooth Criminal, the Michael Jackson song, as their first release. It ended up getting well over 800 million views on YouTube. They have also done the same from the Pirates of the Caribbean and Thunderstruck.

You can watch these two cellists perform in the following video:
