Abandoned As A Baby In A Dumpster, He Went On To Start A $62 Million Company

If you had to talk about someone who inspired you, who would it be? Would it be somebody that you know from your own life, perhaps a parent or a good friend? Maybe you would choose a historical figure and perhaps even somebody that most of us have never heard of. To be honest, there are many people out there who can inspire us and in most cases, it’s because of what they accomplished. Some of them even accomplished great things despite the fact that they started life with a disadvantage.

One of the individuals who fall into that category is Freddie Figgers. When he was born, his mother dumped him in a dumpster but he was able to overcome the difficulty and to go on to inspire thousands of people with his accomplishments. Some people will allow the difficulties they experience in life to mold and shape them into what they are as an adult. Now that Freddy is 29 years old, he is a successful role model for many.

A kind couple by the name of Nathan and Betty Figgers adopted Freddie when he was only two days old. They provided him with the love and support that he needed to grow up into a fine young man. By the time Freddie was nine, he began working on computers when he got one as a gift and it didn’t work. He was 12 years old when he became a computer technician.

Freddie was 15 years old when he started a cloud computing service. He was helping out a car dealership in Alabama who was hit by a tornado and lost their customer files. He made sure it didn’t happen again by backing them up to a remote server.

He created many things but one of the most special things to him was a shoe for his father. Nathan had Alzheimer’s disease and he had a poor memory so his son decided to create a shoe that would keep him safe. It included a device that was both a GPS tracker and a two-way communicator.

“I could pick up the phone and say, ‘Hey dad, where are you at?’ and he doesn’t have to do anything, just lean down and talk into his shoe and I can track his location,” Freddie explained. “That program was very successful and I had a company reach out to me out of Kansas and they bought the program from me for $2.2 million.”

With the influx of money, Figgers Communication was formed. That firm is now worth over $62 million and Freddie is both the CEO and founder. He has created driving software and anti-texting options as well as creating a cell phone with a blood glucose meter.

Freddie believes that success is not about finance. He believes that success is all about creating a better world.

“I believe turning caring into action, and if you see a problem find a solution to deliver an impact to change someone’s life,” Freddie said. “I’m going to impact this world and change today for a better tomorrow, because money is nothing but a tool, but with that tool we can impact and change everyday people lives with opportunities.”
