When most of us go through a difficult time, we feel as if nobody understands or at the very least, we think we are the only one going through a tough time. Every once in a while, however, we see something that makes us realize life is not all that bad after all. That was something that many people experienced when they watched 10-year-old Calum Courtney singing in front of a large audience and the judges on Britain’s Got Talent. It is a moment of clarity that they will not forget.
Most people would take a first look at Calum and think that he was just a sweet boy that had a great voice. Although that certainly is true, there is also something else that needs to be known about him. He has a mild case of autism. Things aren’t always the easiest for the young lad but he doesn’t give up the hope that keeps him moving forward. He also has enough passion for the things that he loves to take it to the next level.
Since Calum is such a driven young man, he was able to take his confidence and get up in front of a large audience at an audition. His family was also nervous, although they were waiting in the wings.
Would he be able to get through the performance or would his nerves get the best of him?
One of the judges asked Calum if he was nervous and he said that he wasn’t. Some of the judges seemed a little skeptical when he first said it but his performance took any doubt out of their mind.
Many people in the UK know Calum as the “Asada Boy.” Although he is well known in the UK, most people in the United States have never heard of him before. He is the one who recently surprised a group of shoppers with a classic Smokey Robinson song in the middle of a grocery store.
Somebody managed to capture his grocery store performance on video. It was shared online and it went viral. Calum still had a desire to perform music and he had his opportunity on Britain’s Got Talent.
This was quite a jump but for him, it was one that had to be made.
It took months of preparing for him to be able to get up in front of a large audience, including the millions of people who would be watching on television. When he walked onto the stage, it was a very confident move.
As soon as he started singing, the judges, as well as the audience, couldn’t believe how much talent he had.
His mother was standing off to the side but she knew he was amazing as well. They just couldn’t wait to see what the judges had to say.
