Blind Teen Throws Out First Pitch And The Crowd Goes Nuts When He Nails It

Considering the fact that we are in the middle of winter and the weather is cold outside in most parts of the world, it seems unusual to watch a little bit of baseball. When most of us think about baseball, we think about sunny skies, warm temperatures and enjoying a cold beer in the stands. That being said, this particular game is well worth watching and although it didn’t happen yesterday, it is inspiring when you see it for yourself.

When an individual has a disability, many people think that they are unable to do anything associated with that issue. The fact of the matter is, however, when somebody sets their mind to something, regardless of what that something happens to be, they can go above and beyond in their abilities. In fact, they might even surprise you sometimes and that is certainly going to be the case with Max Ashton.

It happened in October 2011 when Max was selected to throw the ceremonial first pitch in game 4 of the National League division series. The game was between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

If you have ever been chosen for this honor before, it is something to remember but it can also be just a little bit nerve-racking. It doesn’t matter if you are a celebrity or if you are an average Joe, you want to make sure that you nail it from the start because you only get one chance at doing it.

When Max came up to the mound, he seemed confident enough. You should realize, however, that Max is blind.

The footage that was taken before the game showed Max being led to the pitcher’s mound by his father, Marc. He is also the CEO for the Foundation for Blind Children.

Max winds up and throws the ball perfectly in the catcher’s mitt. The crowd is absolutely going crazy in the background. You can tell that his father is quite proud as he pumps his fist in the air.

When the video of Max throwing the first pitch was uploaded to YouTube, it gained millions of views very quickly. Thousands of people were commenting and saying about how good he did on his first pitch.

“Probably the best first pitch I’ve ever seen,” one commenter wrote.

A Reddit user added, “I couldn’t even throw that pitch that well and I can see.”

It just shows us that we can accomplish great things in life, regardless of who we are or what our ‘limitations’ happen to be. You can see it in this video:
