The life of a police officer can be one that is exciting or perhaps even frightening. In fact, it is often said that a police officer’s job is hours of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. When a 911 call comes in, they never really know what to expect and sometimes, they may travel to the call expecting the worst. That is probably what this cop in Ontario, Canada was expecting when he received a 911 call about a fight.
Officer Jerrod Singh was on his way to the scene but when he arrived, it wasn’t the fight that he was expecting. What he saw was eight people gathered around a single person and he was probably expecting the worst. When he got closer, however, he saw that the person in the middle was not getting beat up but rather, he was breakdancing. There was even somebody there who was filming the man dancing as well.
“I saw eight people gathered around one person, so I can see how a member of the public thought it was a fight,” said Officer Singh.
The cameras were still rolling when the police officer did something that they probably weren’t expecting. He joined right in the dance battle with one of the other dancers, Mahdi Tarfi.
“I was like, OK, this guy can move. He finished and was going to leave and I said, ‘No man, it’s not that easy,’ and asked him to do another dance with me,” said Tarfi.
Although the police officer didn’t know it at the time, a Toronto-based design company was recording the video for an upcoming dance competition. When they shared the video on Facebook, it went viral and now has over 1 million views.
