Father Joins Son On Stage But When He Starts Singing, The Crowd Fell Silent

It doesn’t matter who we are, we have a talent hidden away inside of us. There are those of us who recognize we have a talent and we may share it with family and friends when we have the opportunity to do so. Other people may not recognize their talents as readily but when it comes to the surface, they really have the opportunity to shine. For Jared Watson, it is a love of music and singing that really sets him apart from others.

Jared is a teenager who attends Delmar high school. The school knew Jared well, as he deals with a genetic disease that is known as spinal muscular atrophy. He is confined to a wheelchair because of his nervous system that controls muscle movement is not working properly. He may be in a wheelchair, but there is something that he can do better than most anyone else. He can sing. Although most of the school probably didn’t know this, he was about to show them what he was capable of doing.

Jared had a dream of going to Nashville and singing professionally. He also would like to be an announcer for voiceovers. That is when he decided to make his dream come true but in order to do so, he needed to take the first step.

He practiced at home and eventually, had his opportunity to enter the high school talent show. Nobody had any idea what to expect.

When Jared was up on the stage in front of his classmates, he was about to share a gift with them. He had a talent for singing and he poured his heart out in song.

Jared’s father was on the stage beside him on that day, playing the guitar to accompany his singing. He sang the song, “I Told You so,” which is a well-known song by Randy Travis. It has since been remade by Carrie Underwood.

Jared has an impressive vocal range and a very powerful voice. Perhaps even more powerful than his voice, however, is his love for music.

When he started singing, you could have heard a pin drop in the audience. Everybody was amazed by what this young man was capable of doing. He was more than thrilled to perform in the talent show and after the video went viral, he became famous locally and even recorded a demo CD.
