Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon Nails Their Performance Without A Word

There are times when a video makes the rounds online and it is so popular, it seems to continue to show up time and time again. When we see it, even if we have seen it many times in the past, it is almost as if we are seeing it with fresh eyes. That is certain to be the case when you see this video, which is of the US Marine Corp Silent Drill Platoon. They put on a performance at the Pepsi Center in Denver during a halftime show that was absolutely phenomenal. If you haven’t seen this before, you are in for a double treat.

Many of us may find it difficult to walk in a straight line or to stay in time with almost anything that is taking place. We might consider it a difficulty with ‘walking and chewing gum at the same time’. This platoon, however, certainly doesn’t have that problem and they stole the show at this halftime performance. Many people probably never saw them before because they tend to stick more to the Washington DC area but everyone who was at that game was happy to have seen it.

There are 24 Marine rifle platoon members in The United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. They perform a precision exhibition and are highly disciplined to show the professionalism that you would expect to come from a platoon that has been renowned since 1948.

The precision drill that is executed involves handling rifles with fixed bayonets. By the end, a rifle inspection takes place that is enhanced with spins and tosses. Every Marine that is selected for the platoon must meet very strict requirements. They have to meet a specific weight requirement and need to be between 5’11” and 6’1″. It may seem as if it would exclude many people, and it probably does, but it really helps to make the show what it is. They do their performances year round at the Marine barracks in Washington DC and each man would complete a two-year term. They also go to various events across the United States and even overseas.

One person who watched the video on YouTube said that it was “better half time show than you would see at [the] Super Bowl.” Of course, there were no wardrobe malfunctions that occurred.

Take a look for yourself and enjoy the precision:
