Joyce Randolf From ‘The Honeymooners’ Is Alive And Doing Well At 95

Enjoying a night in front of the television is nothing new. Sure, things have changed in recent years thanks to streaming television and the Internet but the basic premise behind our evenings is still much the same. We settle in on the sofa, watching somebody else’s life unfold on the screen in front of us and trying our best to enjoy ourselves for a little while before we go to bed. This was the case back in the 1950s, but back then, the families that people were watching were a little different. People back then were watching Ralph Kramden and his wife Alice as part of The Honeymooners, one of the more popular shows at the time.

On The Honeymooners, two of the regular stars on the show were Thelma and Ed Norton. Thelma, who was typically known as Trixie, was played by Joyce Randolph. Even though that show was on many decades ago, you will be happy to know that Randolph is still alive and doing quite well. In fact, she is 95 years old and is still known for the work that she did on television so many years ago. Of course, she has done a lot more in her successful life of 95 years but often, it is Trixie that people think of.

As is the case with many actors, Joyce was typecast in the role and she actually had a difficult time finding other work after her time on The Honeymooners came to an end. Many directors would say that they couldn’t use her because she was too known as Trixie. Although that was the case in her professional life, she was married the day after The Honeymooners premiered and she enjoyed her marriage to Richard Charles, even having a son with him.

Unfortunately, the role that she played as Trixie Norton didn’t pay much money but she was recognized as a star. It was not a very well-developed role on the show, but years later, she would be recognized for it and now, 60 years later, people are still talking about it. Take a look at this excerpt from The Honeymooners, to get a glimpse of what Joyce Randolph was doing almost 6 decades ago.
