People have always appreciated beauty but in 2019, beauty standards are different than they have been in the past. Although there are still some guidelines that need to be adhered to when it comes to the beauty industry, there are many companies that are learning what people want and are not necessarily chasing their own ideals. Those companies include Gillette Venus and Benefit Cosmetics.
Benefit Cosmetics is really stepping up to the plate, thanks to their decision to make Kate Grant one of their brand ambassadors. Not only is she a beautiful young woman who has certainly made a mark in the modeling industry, she also has Down syndrome. It is a bold move, but one that will certainly work in their favor.
According to the company, they fell in love instantly with Kate after they watched a video about her journey to become the first model in Ireland with Down syndrome. She ended up winning the 2018 Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World Pageant, which is also a first for someone with Down syndrome.
“Her amazing energy was so infectious and we were captivated by her incredible zest for life and determination,” Benefit Cosmetics said in a statement. “She embodied everything we stand for as a brand so we knew we had to find a way to work with her.”
Kate is going to promote their new Roller Liner Eyeliner on social media. They hope that she will show people “that beauty and makeup shots can absolutely feature people from all walks of life.”
There are 4 ‘wing women’ that will promote the eyeliner line.
“This week has been amazing,” Grant wrote on Instagram, “Make sure you all get this amazing liner!”

Deidre is Grant’s mother and says that her daughter’s goal is to inspire others with disabilities to pursue their dreams.
“She is paving the way for people coming behind her,” she told Metro. “Kate is aware of that and wants to spread awareness about inclusion for people with disabilities and that is what she has done from the very start. She has a great drive to be a supermodel.”
