Teacher Stops Former Student When She Sees Him On The Hwy But One Look In His Eyes Told Her The Truth

You never quite know what your day is going to be like when you are a teacher. Sometimes, you may have a fairly normal day but at other times, the day may take you by surprise. After all, teachers form a bond with their students that is not only seen in the classroom, it is seen in almost all areas. That is why this teacher knew that she had to step up and do something when she saw that something wasn’t right.

The teacher was driving on her way from school when she happened to see one of her former students on his bicycle. This wouldn’t be unusual but he was young and he was riding his bike on a busy highway. She knew that she had to ask what was going on so she stopped and asked him. When she found out what he was actually doing, she realized that he was a true hero.

Cameron had a diabetic father and his dad would sometimes have bad episodes. It happened once when the seven-year-old boy was the only other person around. He ran to a neighbor’s house but they weren’t home and he couldn’t call 911 because the phone needed a passcode.

That is when Cameron came up with a brilliant idea. The only person that he knew outside of his immediate area was his grandmother. He also knew that she lived 5 miles away so he jumped on his bike and started paddling down US 25.

The car was full of huge trucks and cars but Cameron had extreme focus. It is a good thing that somebody saw him that day and knew to take action.

Keller Sutherland was his former teacher and she was on her way home after spending the day at Ellen Woodside Elementary School. She had already gone a mile when she saw him on his bicycle. She was concerned because it was an open highway and worried that something would happen to him.

Although Keller didn’t recognize him at first, she did when she turned around and caught up with him. She asked him several questions and then learned that his father was sick. Keller said that, despite the situation, Cameron kept his calm demeanor and he wasn’t even crying.

She called him “the bravest little boy I have ever seen.”

Two truckers stopped when they saw the teacher and student then they called 911. First responders showed up on the scene and Keller took them to the home. As it turns out, they arrived just in time because his father was almost unconscious in the bathroom.

The principal recognized that some work may be needed in this area so he held a seminar so that students would know how to make emergency calls on different phones. The Facebook video was uploaded and went viral with more than 37,000 views.

Cameron’s mother also had a comment, thanking all who helped. She wrote that Cameron was happy that he saw his teacher and he knew things would be all right at that point.

There is no doubt that the bond between teachers and students is strong. This is a great example of how that is true.
