Brian Dennehy is certainly one of the more well-known faces from television and in the movies. People have enjoyed seeing him appear on the screen for many years and millions of people can recognize him from the moment that they see him. Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 81 and the world truly lost a very talented and noteworthy individual who enhanced our lives through the roles that he played.

As an actor, Brian Dennehy was seen in many iconic television shows and on the silver screen. He also would appear on stage performances in New York City. It seemed as if he played in more movies than most people realized, some of which have become those iconic movies that we continue to watch over and over again. Reports are that he died in his home in Connecticut and that he died of ‘natural causes’.

Some of the movies that he starred in include First Blood and Cocoon. Back in 1977, he also began a career on a television show that was known as Kojak. Of course, Kojak continued to run for a number of years and is still known as one of the more iconic detective shows of its time. He then turned his sights on Dynasty, but he didn’t stop with just his television career, he also continued to play in a number of movies that were absolutely memorable.

Brian Dennehy was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1938. When seeing that he was talented in acting, one of his teachers encouraged him to pursue the career. He played in a high school production of Macbeth and then went on to study at Columbia University in New York City.

After graduating from college, he did some time in the Marines. He also married and had three daughters, but when that marriage ended in 1987, he got married again to Jennifer Arnott and had another two children, a boy, and a girl.

He won numerous awards over the course of his career, including six primetime Emmy nominations, two Tony awards and a Golden Globe.

His death was announced by his agency, ICM Partners, with his agent, Brian Mann saying that he died of cardiac arrest as the result of sepsis. The death was then confirmed by his daughter, Elizabeth on Twitter.

She wrote, “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian passed away last night from natural causes, not COVID-related… Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends.”
